If you need a walk-up ready-to-eat food bag, they are pre-packed and available once a week. No appointment is needed for the walk-up food bags.

Get Help with FREE Groceries

The Action Center offers self-select groceries to community members who are in need at no cost. No identification, income verification, or documentation is needed. 

  • Appointments are required and can be made by clicking the link below.   
  • Due to high demand, self-select grocery appointments often fill up weeks in advance. Appointments open up on a rolling 30-day basis, so please check back frequently. 
  • At times there are limited same-day appointments that become available. You must already be at the Action Center to book a same-day appointment, these CANNOT be booked over the phone or online. Due to limited availability, these appointments are not guaranteed. 
  • Some items during your shopping experience are prepacked to accommodate high demand.   
  • Shopping appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes.
  • Self-select grocery is available to your household once per month 

9:00-11:30 am and 1:00-3:45pm – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Clothing Bank

We have moved back to our main campus – 

8755 W 14th Ave, Lakewood 

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday —              9:30-11:45am and 1:30-3:45pm

Free, gently used, seasonal clothing, shoes, and accessories are available for you to select from the Action Center’s Clothing Bank. Most days we offer clothing for men, women, and children depending on inventory. Limited sheets, bedding and towels are also available. Our selection depends on what has recently been donated, and we restock items throughout each day.

Here at the Action Center, we know that having a permanent address is an important way to stay connected with the rest of the world. We’re happy to provide a safe, secure place for you to receive your mail.

Phone Consultation Appointments
We are offering one-on-one phone consultations with a staff member to learn more about the programs The Action Center offers, including the steps to take to access assistance. 
 

A staff member can answer your questions about registering for additional food benefits, navigating healthcare, connecting you with educational resources, or to experts who can answer your employment and resume questions!

Rent or Deposit Assistance

OPEN TO JEFFCO RESIDENTS ONLY

The Action Center offers rent assistance to help Jefferson County community members avoid eviction and remain housed through financial hardship.

Energy Outreach Colorado Assistance Program

The Energy Outreach Colorado Fund provides energy assistance for Jeffco residents who have a past due balance on their energy (Xcel) bill. If you’re in need of assistance paying your energy bill and you reside in Jefferson County, Colorado please schedule an appointment to see if we can help. 

Community Outreach Partners

We know that your time is valuable. We know that transportation can be costly and time-consuming. We know that “one-stop-shops” are much easier than going to two or more agencies in one day. That’s why we have the following community partners come to us so they can see you! 

Colorado Credit Union

Colorado Community Health Alliance (CCHA)

CCHA helps coordinate physical  and  behavioral healthcare for Health First Colorado (Medicaid) members in Jefferson County and six other counties. CCHA ensure members get connected with the care and resources they need for their health and well-being.

Colorado Pet Pantry

Once a month, the Colorado Pet Pantry will visit The Action Center and will provide a one-month food supply to will temporarily feed Colorado pets, allowing families to increase their ability to care for pets with the goal of keeping pets out of shelters and with their families. You can get food for your pets every other month, once you’ve registered with them. No appointment necessary.

JEFFERSON COUNTY Business and workforce center

Looking for a new job? Not sure where to start? The Jefferson County Business and Workforce Center can help you look for job opportunities, assist you in creating a resume, connect you to classes and programs that can help your job hunt, and even help you submit job applications. 

JEFFERSON COUNTY HUMAN SERVICES

They can help with a variety of different needs, including assistance with SNAP, Medicaid, Adult Financial Assistance, Old Age Pension, and Colorado Works applications. Jeffco Human Services can also check benefits status, answer questions about benefits, and help with Colorado birth certificate vouchers if you are receiving one of the above listed benefits. 

RED ROCKS COMMUNITY COLLEGE

If you’re interested in getting to or going back to college, Red Rocks is here to help! The RRCC campus rep at The Action Center can sign you up for a campus tour, help you with the application, registration, and financial aid processes. They can also help you learn about education and career path options, including connecting you with GED or other education and training programs.

SpayToday Healthy pet center

SpayToday Healthy Pet Center honors the human/animal bond by ensuring every cat, dog and rabbit has access to high-quality, affordable basic veterinary care so that they can live a long, healthy life with a family that cherishes them. When available, we have vouchers for their services and their new clinic is located just down the street from The Action Center at 1401 Ammons Street!
