Join The Action Center volunteer team and be a part of transforming lives right here in our neighborhood.

We offer diverse volunteer opportunities that directly support individuals and families in need. From sorting donations and organizing supplies to assisting community members directly, your efforts will make a tangible difference in someone's day.

Interested in volunteering with the Action Center?

Join the monthly Get to Know Us Volunteer Orientation to learn more about who we are and how you can get involved. This welcoming session covers our mission and values, walks you through the sign-up process, and provides an overview of our volunteer opportunities. It’s a great first step for anyone curious about volunteering and wanting a clear, guided introduction.

Volunteer: Distribute School Supplies

Help students start the school year with the supplies and confidence they need to succeed! With the support of volunteers like you, the Action Center will provide backpacks and school supplies to more than 5,000 students across Jefferson County. This is one of our largest community events of the year, and we couldn't do it without the dedication and generosity of our volunteers.

Join us in making a meaningful difference for local students and families as they prepare for a successful school year.

Location: Everitt Middle School, 3900 Kipling Street, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033

What to Wear: Closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate attire.

Parking Notice: During the distribution event on August 5 and 6, parking is limited for community members receiving supplies. Volunteers are asked to park across the street at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center.

Volunteers are the heart of our organization.

In 1968, a group of volunteers who were concerned about struggling families in their community formed The Action Center. A half century later, volunteerism is still at the core of The Action Center. Our volunteers create a vibrant and active community focused on providing much needed services to the community. And they have tons of fun too!

Group Opportunities

Group volunteer opportunities at The Action Center offer an excellent way for teams of 4-20 people to make a tangible impact while enjoying a meaningful and rewarding experience.

Whether you're looking to strengthen teamwork, boost morale, or give back to the community, volunteering together can foster deeper connections and a sense of accomplishment.

If your group consists of three or fewer people, we kindly ask that you sign up as individual volunteers. For groups larger than 20 participants, simply divide into smaller teams and submit separate forms for each group!

Liability Forms

Are you an adult who will be volunteering with us one-time?

Are you 15 – 17 years old and volunteering without your parents?

If you answered yes to either of these questions, then please be sure to print out the Liability Release & Confidentiality Agreement, review and sign it (and have a parent/guardian sign it if you’re under 18).

Please bring it with you to your volunteer shift.

If you are an ongoing volunteer, you will sign this form and a few others during orientation!
