Meet Lisa

It takes just one moment to change your life. Last January, Lisa found herself unexpectedly let go from her job, she had to move apartments and her son moved out to try and help her. Devastated and depressed, Lisa turned to The Action Center for help.

She utilized the services available to her such as food, clothing, rent and utility assistance, and community connections. Perhaps the most life-changing thing she did was enter our Pathways Program where she set goals such as securing employment, improving self-care and self-esteem, and getting an eye exam. Her quick visit for resources blossomed into a wealth of opportunity for Lisa. Utilizing all The Action Center has to offer, Lisa was able to find two part-time jobs and later went on to secure full-time employment with benefits!

79 days was all it took for Lisa to begin to make a life-changing impact and it all started with one visit to The Action Center. She recently told us: “I am thankful for The Action Center being there during this transitional time in my life.”

Meet the Millers

The Millers came to The Action Center with a plan to secure their future and improve their lives.

John and Ashley have been working alternate shifts to save money on childcare while they work on saving to move into a better neighborhood with their sons

Jack and Tristan.

However, the high costs of first month’s rent and security deposit were hindering them from reaching this goal. Together with one of our volunteers they developed a plan that would help them reach their dream.

Providing nine – five day meal supplies to the family along with clothing and school supplies meant they would be able to move into their new apartment before the school year began.

They achieved their biggest dream.

Meet Tim & Bree

Tim came to The Action Center distraught with no where to turn. His life felt like it was spinning out of control.

His wife had fallen into drugs and was in jail while his young daughter Bree struggled with these drastic changes. Tim was in need of childcare or risked losing his well paying job while facing custody issues.

We decided to address his most immediate need by connecting him with phone numbers for head start, and the Jeffco Childcare Assistance Program. We also connected him to legal and healthcare resources. Tim also left with food and shoes for Bree. He couldn’t have been more grateful.

He just needed someone on his side that could help him figure out how to navigate his new life.
